Global Allince Against Traffic in Women

GAATW sees the phenomenon of human trafficking as intrinsically embedded in the context of migration for the purpose of labour.

Global Alliance Against Traffic in Women

News

Last month we supported our members and partners from Women's Initiatives (WINS), the Telangana Domestic Workers Union, the National Network of Sex Workers India, the Andha Domestic Workers Union, and the Centre for World Solidarity, to write to the Indian Minister of Labour ahead of a national meeting in Tirupati of the Ministers of Labour from all the states and Union Territories.

The letter introduced the Minister to the Women Workers Forum of India and urged him to recognise the valuable contribution made by informal women workers, including sex workers, domestic workers and migrant women workers. We also called on the Minister to realise the right of women workers to social security and ensure that that this is done throughout every state and Union Territory.
