Institut Perempuan (IP) was founded in 2000 in Bandung, West Java, with a “feminist legal perspective”. Its goal is to strengthen women’s rights through advocacy, community education, capacity building of stakeholders, information and documentation. IP focuses on human trafficking because it is a major issue for women in West Java. The organisation also provides some direct services for victims. As an NGO, IP bases its advocacy on ‘women’s experience’ and not on ‘feminist scholars.’
